SHUTTLE-UM TAKES OUT-OF-STATE TERPS HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Break Transportation provides direct transportation from campus to New York, New Jersey during Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring Break. Information about registration, cost, and payment for the next upcoming Break Transportation can be found below.

Shuttle-UM also offers students free transportation to Baltimore Washington International (BWI) Airport for Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring Break.

INTERSTATE BREAK TRANSPORTATION REGISTRATION AND FEES

REGISTRATION

Registration for spring break transportation is open.

(The service for Javits Convention Center in New York, NY, may include a stop at NJT Metropark, NJ.)

Bikes and E-scooters are not permitted on Break Transportation buses, but mobility devices are allowed.

FEES & PAYMENT METHODS

Fees: $80 one way, $120 round trip

Payments will go through student accounts only this year. No credit card payments will be accepted.

INTERSTATE DESTINATIONS

Interstate transportation is to and from campus only. Passengers are responsible for their own travel arrangements upon reaching the destination point.
 

NEW YORK, NEW YORK (JAVITS CONVENTION CENTER)

Our buses depart from the Denton Hall Bus Slip (Located on Stadium Drive) on campus and drop off passengers at Javits Convention Center on 34th Street between 12th Ave and 11th Ave. This location is in close proximity to the 34th Street-Hudson Yards Subway Station. For return trips, our buses will pick up from this same location. Look for a DOTS representative. 

There is also bus transportation to New York City provided through Greyhound Lines, Megabus and Boltbus among others.

ISELIN, NEW JERSEY (NJT METROPARK STATION)

Our buses depart from the Denton Hall Bus Slip (Located on Stadium Drive) on campus and drop off passengers at the Metropark station. This station lies within the Iselin section of Woodbridge Township, close to the border with Edison, north of the intersection of Thornall Street and Wood Avenue. It is accessible via Exits 130, 131, 131A or 131B of the Garden State Parkway.

BREAK TRANSPORTATION TO BWI AIRPORT

BWI Transportation update: To inquire about the next scheduled departure for UMD break transportation, call 301-314-7271 Option 1. 

Shuttle-UM will offer free shuttle service to the Baltimore/Washington International Airport during Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring break. We require no reservations or tickets, but passengers must show a university ID to ride. 

PICKUP LOCATION FOR BREAKS:

All shuttles will depart from the metered spaces in front of Denton Hall (located on Stadium Drive) and drop off at every requested airline door. 

The shuttles will pick up passengers from BWI Airport at the International Arrivals terminal. This is the last door in the terminal, Door #18. 

DATES & PICKUP TIMES FOR BREAKS:

Departure from Maryland to BWI on Friday, March 15th (Departs from metered spaces in front of Denton Hall, located on Stadium Drive)

5:00 a.m., 7:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m.,  5:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m.

Departure from BWI to Maryland on Sunday, March 24th (Drop off at metered spaces in front of Denton Hall, located on Stadium Drive)

8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m.,  4:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m.,  8:00 p.m., 10:00 p.m., 12 a.m. (midnight)
 

PLEASE NOTE: This service will be operated using our black University of Maryland branded buses. The UMD buses will be located on the main roadways with regular vehicle traffic, and not in the bus lanes.

For a fee, students are also able to book the UMD SUV for trips to other area airports, including Dulles and National.

LOCAL AIRPORTS

BALTIMORE-WASHINGTON/THURGOOD MARSHALL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (BWI)

Weekday: Take the Shuttle-UM 126 New Carrollton route to the New Carrollton Metro Station. From here, you can board the Penn Line of the MARC Train to BWI. A free and frequent shuttle runs between the AMTRAK/MARC station and the airport.

Weekend: When the Shuttle-UM 126 route is not operating, take the F8 Metro Bus and transfer to the F4 Metro Bus to get to the New Carrollton Metro Station. From here you can take the last leg of the Weekday option above.

RONALD REAGAN WASHINGTON NATIONAL AIRPORT (DCA)

By Metro: Reagan Airport is Metro accessible. Take Shuttle-UM route 104 to the College Park Metro station and board the Green Line train toward Branch Avenue. Get off at L’Enfant Plaza and switch to the Yellow Line Metro and head toward the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport stop.

DULLES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (IAD)

By Metro: From College Park–UMD Metro Station, take the Green Line to L’Enfant Plaza. Transfer from L'Enfant Plaza to the Silver Line in the direction of Ashburn. Arrive at Dulles Airport Station.

OTHER TRANSIT HUBS AND BREAK DESTINATIONS


UNION STATION, WASHINGTON DC

If you are catching a train or bus from Union Station in DC, take the Shuttle-UM 104 bus to the College Park Metro. Then take the Green Line train toward Branch Avenue and get off at Fort Totten to transfer to the Red Line. From Fort Totten, board the Red Line train toward Shady Grove and get off at Union Station.

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND

By train: The MARC Train’s Camden Line runs from College Park to Camden Station located in the heart of Baltimore. You can catch the MARC train from the College Park Metro Station but keep in mind the train only runs Monday through Friday. The trip takes approximately an hour and costs $7 each way.

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA

By train: Monday through Friday, take the Shuttle-UM 126 New Carrollton bus and get off at Stop 21, the New Carrollton Metro Station. From the New Carrollton Metro Station, you can access the Northeast Regional Amtrak line which can take you to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The New Carrollton Metro Station also serves as a hub for Greyhound which has buses to Philadelphia.

ISELIN, NEW JERSEY

By train: Monday through Friday, take the Shuttle-UM 126 New Carrollton bus and get off at Stop 21, the New Carrollton Metro Station. From the New Carrollton Metro Station, you can access the Northeast Regional Amtrak line which can take you to the Metropark in Iselin, New Jersey.

The New Carrollton Metro Station also serves as a hub for Greyhound which has buses to Newark, New Jersey.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK

By train: Monday through Friday, take the Shuttle-UM 126 New Carrollton bus and get off at Stop 21, the New Carrollton Metro Station. From the New Carrollton Metro Station, you can access the Northeast Regional Amtrak line which can take you to Pennsylvania Station in New York.

The New Carrollton Metro Station also serves as a hub for Greyhound which has buses to New York City.
