All motorized scooters and motorcycles used, stored, or parked on the University must display a valid University-issued sticker including a unique registration number. Motorcyle registration is required for scooters with engines that have more than 50ccs. Proof of ownership may be required to register a motorized vehicle. Registration is available at the Department of Transportation office and is free of charge. Please click here to read press release.
RULES & REGULATIONS
The Maryland State Law classifies motorized scooters, mopeds, and motorcycles as vehicles; therefore, these vehicles are all bound by all vehicle laws. All traffic laws apply to mopeds and scooters as well as motorcycles; speed limits, lane use, turn signals, etc. To learn more about mopeds and motorized scooter regulations click here.
PROHIBITED AREAS
a) On sidewalks.
b) Within any building.
c) On any stairs.
d )On any ramp for the use of persons with disabilities.
e) On any object or surface not designated or intended for use by motorcycles or scooters. |
WHEN RIDING ON CAMPUS
a) Obey all traffic laws like all other motor vehicles.
b) Never drive with more passengers than footrest positions.
c) Never drive on sidewalks or bike paths.
d) Do not park at bike racks or sidewalks.
e) Yield to pedestrians in crosswalks.

| PARKING INFORMATION
Within the university campus there are more then 300 parking locations for motorized scooters, mopeds, and motorcycles. These motorized cycles must be registered through The Department of Transportation Services. Registration is free and good for four years. Motorized scooters, mopeds, and motorcycles are not permitted to park on designated bicycle racks. These vehicles parked in violation of university regulations are subject to be towed. |

 DOTS offers covered bicycle and motorized scooter parking space for rental on a semesterly or yearly basis. These group lockers, which are located in Mowatt Lane Garage, will provide parking spaces within a caged area for bicycles and motorized scooters. While these lockers are equipped with cameras, renters will be required to secure their property to the racks in cages, and will be responsible for locking the area upon exit.
